January 17-18 • Winterfest!
Sponsored by the Healthy Island Project, this annual event is a family oriented celebration of winter. Activities include a bonfire, fireworks, music, miniature horse sleigh ride for kids, harbor parade of lights, a dance at the Opera House and more. Bring your kids or grandkids and join in the fun!

February 14-15 • Valentine Lobster for Lovers

Our Valentine package happens only when Valentine's Day falls on a weekend. So join us for a special local food dinner on Friday evening featuring Stonington lobster. Package includes 2 nights, continental breakfast, Friday lobster dinner for 2.

May 16-18 • "Wings, Waves & Woods" Annual Birding Weekend

This annual birding event offers guided bird walks & talks, eagle nest viewing, pelagic & puffin boat trips, slide presentation, gallery shows and art lessons using several mediums. It's a weekend filled with birding "by land, by sea and by art"; sponsored by Island Heritage Trust, Downeast Audubon and our Chamber of Commerce. For details visit the Chamber's website. Cruise in comfort aboard one of the Isle au Haut Boat Co. ferry boats (inside and outside seating, potties) to Seal Island, a protected breeding ground for the Atlantic Puffin. Other pelagics, seals, lighthouses and porpoises will also entertain you along the way. It's a wonderful way to experience Penobscot Bay for approximately 4 1/2 hours. Lighthouse Cruises • June 22 • July 13 • August 10 • September 13-14
The Isle au Haut Boat Co will offer 5 lighthouse cruises to see 6 of the 8 lighthouses on the Deer Isle Lighthouse Trail. Cruise through the archipelago of Penobscot Bay from Stonington to Vinalhaven in comfort aboard Miss Lizzie or Mink, both equipped with potties, indoor & outdoor seating, and Coastguard inspected. Lighthouse narration will be given by George Cole, President of the Isle au Haut Boat Co. US Lighthouse Society passports and official stamps available on board. 5-6 hour trip so bring everything you will need, including a lunch. Rates: adults - $70; children under 12 - $45. June 8 • "Round the Island" Boat Trip
Once again the wonderful folks at the Isle au Haut Boat Co. are making their boats and captains available for our guests to venture around the entire island of Deer Isle. Travel under the Deer Isle Bridge, see views of Haystack's campus, the windmills on Vinalhaven, Cadillac Mountain, plus sea birds, porpoises, seals and a few new McMansions along the way. If you love lighthouses, this is the weekend for you! The Deer Isle Lighthouse Trail includes 8 lighthouses. On Saturday or Sunday you can join Isle au Haut Mailboat Co. President, George Cole, aboard Mink (or Miss Lizzie) for a glorious narrated 5-6 hour tour around Penobscot Bay to see 6 of the lighthouses. If you prefer a birds-eye view, on Saturday or Sunday see all 8 lighthouses from the air with Penobscot Island Air! Choice of air/sea tours sold separately. Continental breakfast and 2 nights. This is an annual 2-day self-guided open studio/gallery tour. From porcelain to wood-fired clay, from teapots to sculpture, our local potters' works can be found from the Smithsonian Institute to your kitchen table. Spend 2 nights at the Inn on the Harbor and 2 nights at the farm house on Mountain Glory Farm overlooking Mount Katahdin and Baxter State Park. Your adventure on the farm will have an added feature – we invited a young Amish family to live at our farm. So you can observe centuries old Amish life from the comfort of your living room. Moose Safaris...
Although there are thousands of moose in Maine, knowing where to find them in the Great North Woods at any given time is tricky. Leave it to the professionals who will take you on a 3-hour safari by boat or by van to view these amazing creatures. Rates: by pontoon boat, $49 per person; by van, $69 per person (4 people required). Summer Harbor-Lobster Fishing Tours
Cruise the islands aboard Miss Lizzie, on a scenic excursion of the Bay. You'll learn about Maine's lobster fishery as the crew of the Isle au Haut Boat Company hauls a string of lobster traps. The Captain will explain the techniques and a few of the secrets of the men and women who earn their livings on the waters of coastal Maine. He will also narrate the local history and folklore of the islands, granite quarries and lighthouses. Cruises are 90 minutes, Monday through Saturday. Rates: adults - $22; children under 12 - $8. Daily Boat Trips with Captain Walt
Enjoy the unparalleled beauty of the Deer Isle archipelago by private custom boat charter. Join Captain Walt Reed aboard Gael to see these Penobscot Islands in a way that few get to experience, by creating your own tour. Enjoy viewing wildlife, lighthouses, architecture, or just being out on the water. Take a unique 3-hour tour through Stephen King's world of Derry (Bangor), Maine. Stuart Tinker, recognized as a leading expert on King lore and legend, will narrate this 3-hour tour, taking in 30 locations including homes King has occupied, places that inspired stories, and actual film locations.
